The Green Hero from Wonogiri

Sadiman, born in Dali village, Geneng, Bulukerto, Wonogiri, on February 4, 1954. He is the environmental hero.
More than 19 years he planted thousands of trees in the forest that have died as a result of illegal logging and conflagration forest  that occurred in 1964. Sadiman was planted banyan tree  since 1996, he planted forest area of ​​100 hectares owned forestry. He bought tree seedlings with his own money from the selling grass and cloves. In fact, he ever sold a goat to pay land lease residents to plant banyan tree for the sake of greening. Sadiman also make 1025 the stairs to facilitate the access road to the forest.
Sadiman concern for the environment is now fully supported by the community. Forest that was once barren and dry due to limited water resources has now changed to green. It impact on the emergence of springs, with the advent of spring water, people can use the water for their daily needs. These springs are used as sources of drinking by 800 people and has irrigate rice fields 208 residents.
The purpose of Sadiman greening is because he cares about the future and the community in order to enjoy the beauty of nature. The greening can now be enjoyed by the people directly.  March, 19 2016, Sadiman was recognized as a environmental hero in Kick Andy TV Program, and also the forests that planted by Sadiman now named Sadiman Forest.

'Nyekar' Tradition

 

 

I took this picture when I visited my family's tomb to do "Nyekar" tradition which commonly spreads various of flowers on the top of the tomb. 

'Nyekar' tradition arose because of acculturation between Hindu-Javanese Islam, which in Javanese belief, the spirit is immortal and always "come home" to meet with the families on a monthly basis "Ruwah" (the Islamic calendar is called Sha'ban), Ruwah derived from the word "Souls "plural form of" spirit "which means spirit. Thus, according to this belief  Ruwah is a momentum for mutual-greet exchanged between those who have died with those who are still alive.

Hinduism also has a typical greeting with ancestor spirits with a variety of offerings, one of which is a flower (Java: sekar).

Than,  in Islam, grave pilgrimage is a very positive thing to do as a means of remembering the death. In terms of ritual "nyekar" tradition is very positive thing because in addition as a vehicle for strengthening rope salaturrahmi "cross-country" is also a means of reinforcing faith in life after world.
Tradition "nyekar" (first performed at the end of Sha'ban, Ramadan) also serves as a reminder  cultural that we must be prepared to enter a month full of blessings, mercy, and forgiveness. To achieve all this we need the name of the self-cleaning (tazkiyatun nafs), such as multiply istighfar, reading holy verses, apologized to relatives both living and dead, as well as apologized to the family, and step such as embodied in a ritual called "nyekar".
Similarly, conducted at the end of Ramadan (the face of Shawwal), as if to remind that sublime month soon leave us, so we retain a blessing, mercy and forgiveness, God willing we have achieved in Ramadan while maintaining the "sanctity" yourself towards nature, not forgetting istighfar, do not neglect reading holy verses, still remember and pray for those who have returned to Him.

 

Gita Buana Soedirman UNSOED goes International

 

Purwokerto, May 23, 2016 – 40 Gita Buana Soedirman (GBS) singing group wil be the representative of UNSOED to go internationally. GBS joins the competition on “3^rd Singapore International Choral Festival 2016” at Explaned Concert Hall Hotel, Singapore.

GBS has been joined international competition for third times. The first  and second were located in Bali. GBS got gold medals on that competition. Then, this year International Competition will be located in Singapore on 10-13 August 2016.

“We will bring two categories of song. The first is Folklore, in this category we will sing Yamko Rambe Yamko which is Papua’s song and we will wear traditional clothes. The second is Mixed youth Choir,in this category we will sing Das Machen which is italy’s song and we will wear tuxedo for man and long dress for women.” Danang is a GBS personil said.

GBS team singer has done exercise from February to first of August. There were some selection to got a personil who became a delegation to join 3^rd Singapore International Choral Festival 2016.

Before going to Singapore, GBS will hold pre competition or farewell competition on June or after ramadhan in Soemarjito. This pre competition will be the simulation before GBS doing the real competition in Singapore.

 BOOK REVIEW : HOPELESS by Collen Hoover (2012)

“Hope? Will you promise me something?” I turn my head and look at him, but he’s still looking up at the stars. I’ve never promised anyone anything before except my daddy. I had to promise him I wouldn’t tell anyone how he makes me thank him and I haven’t broken his promise, even though sometimes I wish I could. If I ever did break my daddy’s promise. I would tell Dean because I know he would never tell anyone.

“Yes,” I say to him.

He turn his head and look at me, but his eyes look sad. “You know sometimes when your daddy makes you cry?”

I nod my head and try not to cry just thinking about it. I don’t know how Dean knows that daddy is always the reason why I’m crying, but he does.

“Will you promise me that when he makes you sad, you’ll think about the sky? “I don’t know why he wants me to promise him that but I nod anyway. “But why?” “Because.” He turns his face back up to the stars. “The sky is always beautiful. Even when it’s dark or rainy or cloudy, it’s still beautiful to look at. It’s my favorite thing because I know if I ever get lost or lonely or scared, I just have to look up and it’ll be there on matter what...and I know itll always be beautifull. It’s what you can think about when your daddy is making you sad, so you don’t have to think about him.”

The Synopsis

This novel tells us about a beautiful, kind, and joyful girl names Sky. One day, when she was in a supermarket, she met a handsome man who acquainted himself to her. His named Holder. Sky felt so surprised because Holder followed her until her car when she would back home. Surprisingly, when Sky mentioned her name, Holder asked her to show her identity card. Sky finally showed it and told that her name was Sky and Holder's expression changed.

The next morning, when Sky run around the complex, she was tired and did not bring a drink. Then, she stopped and decided to take rest in front of a big house. She felt so exhausted and it made her vision blurred. Then, there was a man who gave her a drink. Sky took the drink and drank it. When she saw the man, surprisingly, the man was Holder. They met again and began so friendly to know each other in their second meeting. They had same hobby; they loved sports, especially run. The next day, they decided to go run together. They did it almost in every morning or afternoon.

After often having jogging, Sky always talked about Holder and herself  to Six. Six was pal’s Sky. They swapped stories almost in every day. Six was a chatty, brave, kind, and loyal friend for Sky. They were both friends that would never be separated. After finishing her story, Six told Sky that she would go to Europe to continue her school. Sky felt so sad to hear it but she still supported whatever Six’s decision.

When Six would go, she gave gifts to Sky. The gift was a cell phone. There was a reason why Six gave her a cell phone so that they could communicate easier to share their stories and experiences. Since her childhood until now, Sky was now 18 years old and Karen never allowed her to use all electronic devices. Karen was Sky’s mother. Karen was a good mother figure, and affectionate woman. She banned Sky to use electronic devices in order to avoid Sky from all negatives association that could be posed by the technology.

Holder increasingly showed his care to Sky. He tried to give prove and he was already acquainted with Karen and Karen already trust him to take care Sky. Sky felt comfortable near Holder. Holder loved Sky so much and he wouldn’t hurt her. One night, when they slept together, Holder didn’t touch Sky. He just laid next to Sky and when Sky was asleep, Holder whispered a name in her ears, he called the name 'HOPE'. Sky heard his whisper and asked in her heart, who was Hope?

Every night when Sky went to sleep, she always imagine a figure of an old man who gave her a gift of toy. However, when receiving the prize, Sky’s face looked so sad. She woke up, and assumed that it was just a nightmare.

Holder had a twin who named Less. Less had left him because of suicide. Holder regretted it but finally he have understood about what was happened and was perceived by Less.

One day, Holder saw a bracelet worn by Sky, it made Holder remembered his sadness past. Holder felt angry and disappeared for a month without any explanation. Of course, Sky felt so confused and she didn’t know what happened with Holder and bracelets. Sky tried to forget Holder, but she couldn’t.

Hope and Less were people who meant a lot to Holder. Holder made tattoo that could be read "HOPELESS" in his arm. He said that by looking at the text he felt closer to HOPE and LESS.

I suggest you to read this novel because there are many unexpected things inside the stories until you finish read this novel. Who is SKY and HOPE? How the relationship between Holder and Sky after they doesn't meet each other for a long time? Why Holder was so angry with Sky because she wear that bracelet?
